PERSONAL EFFECTS, MOVING, EXCESS BAGGAGE

“Best Price, Best Service”

Whether you’re sending one parcel, a vehicle or an entire house lot we will investigate all of the available service options to move your belongings safely and cost effectively. Saving you time and money.

SEA FREIGHT

For House lots the break even point for a full 20’ container is approximately 15 cubic metres when origin and destination fees as well as ocean freight costs are taken into account. The other method of sending via sea freight is known as LCL or Less than container load. Your freight will be consolidated with freight from many other shippers going to the same destination. Depending on the destination you freight may change containers two or three times over its journey. This means LCL shipments must be well packaged to avoid damages when being loaded/handled. We recommend crating or palletisation which allows handling by forklift to reduce the chance of damage. LCL cargo attracts high fees at origin and destination that are based on a minimum charge of one cubic metre. The ocean freight charge is also based on a minimum of one cubic metre. This means that air freight may often be cheaper especially for Australian and Pacific Island destinations.

WHAT SHOULD I NOT PACK?

Dangerous goods are totally unacceptable on board an aircraft. Refer to your airline ticket for a complete list.

HOW DO I LABEL MY BAGGAGE?

Ensure that all items are clearly labelled in English. Every item must have name and address of destination.

HOW MUCH WEIGHT SHOULD I PACK PER ITEM?

We suggest no more than 30 kilograms per item.

WHAT DOCUMENTATION IS REQUIRED?

Inventory of contents, Photocopy of Photo page of your passport, Completed UB Freight consignment note If you are moving overseas or returning home after a stay in New Zealand then air freight can be a cost effective way to move any items you may want to take with you that exceed the airline baggage allowances. Air cargo attracts much lower handling fees at destination than sea freight. If you are only 5 -10 kg over it is probably best to pay the airline excess charges as the minimum fees which apply for air cargo make small shipments uneconomic. However for larger shipments you can save a significant amount. Our standard service is based on cargo being dropped off to our airport offices in normal business hours and air freighted to the destination airport cargo terminal only .Handling fees will be payable to the cargo terminal at destination airport prior to uplift of shipment (usually around US$30) You will need to arrange payment of these fees as well as customs clearance and collection of your shipment from the terminal.. We can also offer a delivered to door service if you would prefer. However the charges for this can be significantly higher as a customs clearing agent must be employed to provide the service at destination. Customs clearance of personal effects is a straight forward process in most countries and formalities can be completed easier and faster by the owner of the goods than an agent.
